04 — Methodology & assumptions
Methodology & assumptions
Source & window
- Observed data: Google Search Console Search Analytics (read-only), type web.
- Window: 2026-08-03 to 2026-08-30 (28 days). Comparison: the 28 days immediately before it. Search Console data has a ~3-day lag.
- Caps: up to 200 pages, 100 queries and 500 page+query rows per run. Totals and counts can understate properties larger than the cap.
Derived estimate
- Estimated click opportunity = max(0, round(impressions × 10% benchmark − clicks)).
- The 10% benchmark is a flat, documented assumption, not a per-position or per-intent prediction. It is a directional estimate — not recoverable traffic, lost revenue, or a forecast.
- The snapshot total is the sum across the 14 pages that qualified for a section, so it reconciles with the tables.
Classification thresholds
- Seen but not clicked: impressions ≥ 20, position ≤ 20, CTR < 3%.
- Near page one: impressions ≥ 10, position 11–20.
- Losing visibility: a previous-period match with ≥ 20 impressions and current impressions below 70% of the previous period.
Priority
- HIGH: estimated opportunity ≥ 100 clicks, or a large decline (≥50% from ≥200 impressions), or high impressions with very low CTR.
- MEDIUM: estimated opportunity ≥ 30 clicks, or a qualifying page-two page, or any decline. LOW: other qualifying pages.
- Ordering: priority, then estimated opportunity, then impressions, then URL. Deterministic and reproducible.
Interpretation limits
- Page type is inferred from the URL pattern and only adjusts wording.
- Query and page+query rows are observed Search Console values. They show what was searched and which page appeared; they do not by themselves prove user intent.
- No recommendation promises rankings, traffic, revenue, indexing or competitor outcomes.
- Average position is impression-weighted across all queries a page appeared for.
